A Facebook forum that grew into a community
Cinty Bangla exists so that no Bangladeshi family or student in greater Cincinnati has to figure out a new country alone.
Our mission
It began in April 2015 as "A facebook forum for the Bangladeshis of the greater Cincinnati region." It is still exactly that, with a good deal more attached to it.
We preserve and share Bangla language, music, food and traditions with a generation growing up in Ohio — and we make the practical parts of life here easier for anyone who has just arrived.
In practice that means a calendar that runs from the Eid bazaar in February through Pohela Baisakh in April to Bangladesh Night in August — and a network of people who will answer the phone when you need a ride to the airport, a recommendation for a school district, or help reading an immigration letter.
We are entirely volunteer-run and open to everyone with a Bangladeshi background, in Greater Cincinnati, Ohio or across the river in Kentucky.

Where the daily conversation happens
Rides to the airport, apartment recommendations, cricket on Sunday, and the announcements that go out before every programme. Private group — anyone can find it, only members can see the posts. An admin reviews each request to join, so give it a day or two.
Community First
What started as a Facebook forum in 2015 is now a network of nearly 400 Bangladeshis across the greater Cincinnati region — people who show up for each other in person, not just online.
Cultural Pride
From Pohela Boishakh and Eid gatherings to Ekushey February and winter pithas, we keep our roots alive and share Bangla music, food and language with the next generation.
Growing Together
Job referrals, school district advice, immigration paperwork, ride shares to the airport — members help each other with the practical things that matter day to day.

How we got here
Before 2015
A Yahoo group
Before Facebook, the community organised over a Cinty Bangla Yahoo group. When the first Facebook event went up, its details were copied straight across from there.
April 2015
The Facebook group goes up
Cinty Bangla is created on 5 April 2015 as "a facebook forum for the Bangladeshis of the greater Cincinnati region" — a place to ask questions, share news, and find each other across a metro area spread over two states.

Bangla Nobo Borsho — the first event
Two weeks after the group was created, sixteen people gathered at the Blue Ash Recreation Center for Bangla New Year. Everyone helped clean the hall and vacate by half past three.
2022
Back together in person
An Eid potluck at the Blue Ash shelter drew thirty-seven people, cooked for by members rather than caterers, and an end-of-summer pitha party followed at a member's home that September.
2023
Bangla cinema in Cincinnati
The community started booking Cincinnati cinema screens for Bangla films — Surongo in August and Prohelika at the Esquire Theatre that October.
April 2026
The biggest programme yet
Pohela Baisakh at Livingston Lodge in Indian Hill ran seven hours with 102 registered guests, built around the six seasons of Bangladesh and opened with a chorus rehearsed by members.

Nearly four hundred members on the group, an annual calendar that runs from the Eid bazaar in February to Bangladesh Night in August, and this website alongside it.

Everyone is welcome
Regardless of religion, district, politics or how long you have been here.
Volunteers, not staff
Every event is run by members giving their weekends. Nobody draws a salary.
Transparent with money
Accounts are shared with members at the annual general meeting, down to the hall rental.
Politics stays outside
We do not take positions on Bangladeshi or American party politics at community events.

Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.
